PATH receives grant from Ploughshares Fund for Web3 trainings
We’re thrilled to announce that PATH is officially among the receipts for the Ploughshares Equity Rises grant.
The Ploughshares Fund has awarded over $1 million in grants to various organizations. These grants are aimed at addressing urgent needs in the field of nuclear disarmament by supporting new voices and innovative approaches. The funding seeks to empower organizations working toward peace and security, allowing them to conduct research, engage with communities, and collaborate for a safer world.
Our goal in this one-year grant period is to create two sets of digital courses: the first is introducing the scope and potential of Web3 technology for nuclear disarmament professionals, and the second, conversely, a course on introducing the global issues around nuclear weapons policies and proliferation to Web3 entrepreneurs.
Web3 technology holds significant potential for positively impacting nuclear weapons de-proliferation efforts, echoing its positive impacts on other environmental and social justice programs. By leveraging the decentralized and transparent nature of Web3, organizations and governments can enhance the monitoring and verification of disarmament agreements, reducing the risk of nuclear proliferation. Similarly, blockchain technology within Web3 can facilitate secure and tamper-proof record-keeping, ensuring accountability in disarmament processes. Moreover, the transparency and inclusivity fostered by Web3 can encourage broader global cooperation and information sharing, ultimately advancing nuclear disarmament and aligning with the broader goals of environmental protection and social justice. Just as Web3 has revolutionized transparency and collaboration in other sectors, it can offer fresh solutions to one of humanity's most pressing challenges: achieving a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.
To get there, however, those in the nuclear disarmament space need to know the terminology and the technology before we can harness it. Those already in the Web3 space need to, well, know that nuclear disarmament issues are still as ever-present as they were in decades past, and that it’s a subject they can profoundly and positively influence. We hope that the materials we’ll work on over the next year, with plenty of feedback from our friends and colleagues in this space — will move both fields closer to understanding and collaboration.
We couldn’t be prouder to earn the support of Ploughshares and be among such great company of all the other grant recipients, and more excited for what is to come!
